250g of plain flour
100g of caster sugar
170g of butter
Icing – optional (for decoration only)
Heart shaped biscuit cutter
Rolling pin
Baking tray
Weighing scales
A few basic cooking utensils – spoon etc

Step 1
Pre heat your oven to 180 centigrade. Then lightly grease your baking tray with a little butter.
Step 2
Mix the flour and sugar in a bowl then rub in the butter.
Step 3
Knead well until the mixture becomes a smooth paste.
Step 4
Sprinkle some flour onto your work surface and use your rolling pin to roll the mixture out to a thickness of about 1 centimetre. With your heart shaped cutter cut out the shapes. Place all your heart shaped biscuits on your baking tray and place in the oven for 20-25mins
Step 5
When your biscuits are cooked take them out of the oven (remember to ask a grown up to help you as the oven is very hot!). Leave to stand until cold. The biscuits will harden as they cool. When they have cooled down place in an airtight container to keep fresh or decorate with your icing.
